I love this software too now.
The latest update has fixed my purge issue.

Everything is just working for me automatically now. :D

    Hi 1PW,

Yes, I installed yesterday the same version (Pro) as Stigg posted in reply # 275.
This was the first time I ever installed it, and I am a completely newbee to it (as can be seen in my other thread).

I hope this answers your question ;)
    Regards

    No problem, FanJ.

If it is any consolation, I have found Macrium Reflect to be rock solid.
And you don't need to be a rocket surgeon to use it.

Does the Pro and Free version not update together?

+1 I did my first restore with it, followed the steps and found it easy and successful.

I have one question about Macrium Reflect backup file names. When I create system image I usually leave default option for filename (image ID as filename). This makes managing backup files harder as filenames are unintuitive and I have to check creation date of each file. Macrium recommends to use ID as a name. Could there be any problem with backup files or restore procedure if I name backup files myself?

I never use the default name. You are right it is next to useless. I've had no problem with naming them.

Thanks Peter. If there's no problem, I'll name them myself also.

I keep the default name. I find it important if you are doing full + differential or incremental backups as the naming structure makes them easily identifiable as a set.
What more do you need in a file name? The date and time is easily identified.

I don't have a problem with that as far as changing the names. Also if you really need to you can put comments into each incremental.

I never do differential or incremental backups - always full, so this shouldn't give me any problems...

Yeah. You will still be OK.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that all my backups are fully scheduled, including purge.

Curious why no incrementals. I use them and they work fine. Save a huge amount of time. Never had a restore issue with them. Again I am just curious..

    Just a personal choice.
Differentials are quick enough for me and less chance of corruption as there are multiple files with incrementals. Some image applications (IFW) even warn against making too many incrementals.

I prefer to have separate backups, created 2 to 3 times a week. I get image done in 4 minutes so it doesn't take me a lot of time.

Differentials and incrementals are much smaller than full images so you can keep a lot of backups. That's where I see their place.
If your images are created on a schedule and you don't see them being created then time is of little relevance. Whether the image takes 1 or 100 minutes to be created, it doesn't really matter.

Those options are available in paid version only. I use free version of software so I can't use them.

I bought a licence and set up daily incremental backup of system partition. I have one question. I've tested setting up different schedulers and after testing them decided how to set it the way I like it.
When everything was set up, I deleted three different "test" schedules from Scheduled backups section of application.
Today I checked my backups and noticed that backup jobs that I deleted were still run. I found out that those deleted backup jobs were still present in Windows Task Scheduler. So I deleted them from there also.
Is this normal? Doesn't Macrium delete scheduled backup jobs from Windows Task Scheduler? Or is this a bug?

    Noticed that too

It deletes scheduled backup jobs from GUI but not from Windows Task Scheduler

I'm not sure how it's managed on an UEFI mainboard but look around and make sure the LEGACY mode of the USB subsystem is enabled.

    Two things to try.

    1. See if you can install it in the boot manager
    2. with the CD, start the windows boot, and in the middle do a power reset. Let it boot to the CD again and see if you now have the mouse. Is it logical, nope, but it worked for me.

Thanks Pete but I had already tried adding it to the boot menu with no luck. I tried your 2nd method but it didn't work either. Weird it didn't even work with an old PS/2 mouse or keyboard.

    Update:
I found the problem! There is some hidden Bios options stating that USB was only partially initialized, so I changed it to Full Initialize and it worked.
