I am building a new m/c to replace my current one. I was going to install Win 8 fresh but then noticed that Macrium has a re deploy feature and was wondering if was worth going down that road.

The new m/c is substantially different - AMD to Intel to name but one.

Any thoughts please (I do know about trasferring my licence across)

    Thanks

I'd install from scratch. Once you restore with the deploy, you will still have a lot of work to do with drivers etc. Clean install is the best way in the long run.

Indeed, a new PC is a good time to clean things up with a fresh install.

That being said, last summer I went from an AMD Phenom 9650 (about 5.5 years old) to an Intel Core i5-4460 using Macrium Redeploy. Yes I had to fiddle with a few drivers, but on the whole it saved me a ton of time as I didn't have to reinstall everything. I was surprised switching from AMD to Intel worked so well.

Thanks for the info. I was tending towards a fresh install but wondered about the deploy. Think I will go clean.
