    Hello
I hope this isnt too much info. Ive been trying to solve this myself for a couple months without any luck.

    System specs: p4 3g HT, 512 ddr400, ati 9600, sata 120 maxtor

I ran ad-aware and spybot s&d. I also have SpywareBlaster instaled. Then I ran HighjackThis. Im running WinXP Pro, Norton Virus 2004, System Restore is off, ICF is turned on.

Under the advanced settings tab in 'internet connection firewall' there are a couple items which are impossible to get rid off (i uncheck them and delete them but they constantly reapear) (ICMP are all unchecked and seem fine)They look some thing like this msmsgs 11258 UDP and msmsgs 9249 TCP (the numbers change and the amount of them changes - sometimes one of each sometimes up to 4 of each)

This get me freaked so ive been running every possible scan... which led me to find: winpatrol - says i have messenger 4.7 running, wont let me shut it down, its running in tasks and services (under the options section of the actual program the 'start up' and 'run in background' are unchecked). When i go into Windows XP Pro msconfig and services.msc i can't even find it. Also, under admin services there is no entry for the messenger service that i shut down (a while ago) cause of those annoying pop ups - its just gone.

Virus scaners found nothing (Housecall and Norton).

I used net-commando and it says that I have 'win32.trojan.sockets de troie' listening on port 5000. Now im realy freaked so i read a lot of other forums and go into safe mode to erase msprot32 and winsock2drv and severl others. Nothing has changed though with the above stated problems.

Also: Occasionaly (not offten) my system will lock up with 100%cpu usage. But in general its not a slowdown problem.

I will stop here... I can give more info if needed.

By the way, very nice forum, ive come here often (as a non memeber) to find solutions to problems.

    Thank you.
