    Thanks for the heads-up.

That would probably depend who you ask. I think Ashampoo OEM's their product while TuneUp Utilities' is an in house development. Either, way, IMO I'd stay away from anything deleting, compacting or otherwise editing the registry unless something is obviously acting up with the computer. Even then I just use certain products to mess with the registry. I didn't like TuneUp running in the background all the time, not sure if Ashampoo does the same thing or not. But overall I think Ashampoo's product is pretty decent.

LOL Not only will they hammer you with email, they will also provide pop-ups on your desktop. I have Snap 4 and had to set the firewall to stop it from phoning home and serving up ads.

That sounds about right.Watch out pretty soon they might send a rep to find where you live and start to ring the door bell.:DYou might have to go in the witness to spam protection program.

I think the only issue I have had with Ashampoo is that whenever I download a new product of theirs the spam emails start again until I go to my online account settings and request they stop. After that I have had no problems. As for the pop up ads, I've seen some "update available" or "upgrade available" that appear at the program's start up in its splash screen. There's an option to not show them again which has always worked for me. But I normally just opt out of everything, service messages, etc from the beginning and have no pop ups afterwords.

Just make sure you uncheck the various options under "settings" > "basic functions" > "service channel" > "configure". Otherwise, as djohn mentioned earlier, you will shampooed to death.

I'm already pretty careful about who I'll open the door for LOL Regarding my earlier comment about pop-ups on the desktop I only recently noticed that notifications can be turned off in the Service Channel section of the GUI, so not so bad. By the way Ashampoo has a holiday special going at the moment - 70% off using coupon code christmas11
