    Hi everyone,

I've used Jetico Personal Firewall for two years, but unfortunately, I reinstalled Windows Vista two days ago, and JPF doesn't work anymore (the well-known 0x80080005 error). It's very strange, because I reinstalled JPF on a fresh install of Vista.

I also tried Comodo but it screwed up my internet connection.

So my question is : do you know a lightweight but powerful rule-based firewall for Windows Vista (32 bits), if possible free ? It's really a pity that JPF doesn't work anymore, because imho, it's one of the best firewalls, if not the best.

    I thank you in advance.

PS : I'm sorry if I made english mistakes, because I'm French :)

With two failures on Vista compatible firewalls, there may be an issue with your Vista system. Perhaps the network driver is not quite right.

No offense but Vista has so many issues. I am keeping my XP till I am forced to change. Even Dell is offering free down grades to XP. Do you have an XP cd?

d_roker, if you don't mind paying (thou they have a free 30day trial on initial download) try.... Kerio's winRoute FWall.

It runs on win2K up to Vistas.

Btw, Kerio's team is the same team that developed Tiny_FW. And whoever had used Tiny before should know of its unique design/feature plus ease-of-use. And that can be expected from current Kerio too.

    Merry Christmas all :)

Which version of Jetico are you using? Version 2.0.1.2 is the latest.

It was too many issues for me. I wonder what the final release of SP1 will bring.
