    That's a good summary.

    Even similar model computers with IDE HDs can present issues. I restored an image taken from a Dell Optiplex to another Optiplex with a slightly different model number. The WinXP OS didn't load until I changed the IDE storage drivers with the free TBOSDT version.

    free TBOSDT can change drivers without using the scripts?:eek:

    Free TBOSDT comes with an IDE and a SATA script. They are for the WinXP operating system and I'm not sure if the SATA script is good for all controllers. There is a bit of manual work to set it up.

    The IDE script should be good for all controllers and is easy to setup.

    I just know it can use the EZEdit to run the script....:eek:
