here are two great programs i just installed today!

Desktop Data Manager - a clipboard manager, screenshot app (with various nice settings) and download manager, although i use wget for that.

catfish it's a frontend for several differnet search tools - find, locate and beagle; just pick which search tool you want to use from a dropdown, i love it

you can add a catfish search to thunar using this link. i really like thunar!
