Did you try? I was going to but CrunchBang Linux caught my eye. Linux Mint Xfce released: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1725
Yes, I tried the RC in the vm and I like it, but it was only a short trial, so of course I can't offer a recommendation on it in one way or another. It did, however, seem to be a typical solid effort from the mint team.
Xubuntu is rolling out the new XFCE 4.8 desktop. The advantage is for the first time you can edit the menu with alacarte rather than through the command line. The weakness of the last edition has been the lack of support for Samba shares. Hopefully, that works now.
Just installed it a couple of hours ago, switched to unstable and installed Chrome dev channel. Works nicely. When I get bored, I might torture it with experimental branch.
