    Hello!

I would like to ask something about XPL's LinkScanner .

As far as I understand it checks for exploits only , not for malware links/downloads/spam sending (like SiteAdvisor) ? And LinkScanner Pro checks the sites in real time (I mean doesn't use local database) ?

Does the Lite edition works in Winsock level (I ask because AFAIK the Pro works in the Winsock and thus interferes with NOD32's IMON) .

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello HiTech_boy,

Please see the following links for information regarding both Linkscanner Lite and LinkScanner Pro(LSP).

FYI, LSP relys upon a combination of database, honeypots, signatures(blacklist), URL-filtering and behavioral techniques and is installed at the ring 3(user) level as a layered service provider(LSP) via Winsock. Jon at Exploit Prevention Lab's technical support has told me that they are looking at incorporating whitelist functionality into a future version of LSP.

Is LinkScanner Lite installed as a LSP via Winsock? I have no idea. Your best bet is to contact Exploit Prevention Labs technical support at the following link.

As far as installing LSP alongside NOD32, I have found three ways to install LSP. First of all, after installing LSP and rebooting your computer, you can manually restart NOD32's IMON module. Secondly, before installing LSP, you can temporarily disable NOD32's IMON module and restart it after rebooting your computer. Lastly, after installing LSP and rebooting your computer, reboot a second time.

    Hope this helps.

    Peace & Love,

Even with cable or DSL, I use a free download accelerator that supports PAUSE, RESUME and STOP. So if I accidentally click on a spyware link, the download accelerator stops the install of junkware.
