well by light i mean obviously of the mainstream browsers, none of the browsers are light, but say if you want to bring firefox to opera's level then you would have to install speed dial, mouse gestures etc and it makes it even heavier.

I agree completely. Firefox is a nice browser, don't get me wrong. But it's what I think of as "build a browser". You can make it do a lot, but often at the expense of performance and, sometimes, security.

yes i agree with you its like a double edged sword, i use both firefox and opera as well, if only firefox had better memory management for its addons it would be unbeatable.
firefox with lastpass only is excellent! ABP is the one that used a lot of memory.

i am not a opera fanboy although i do have a soft spot for it, i use more than 5 browsers :p LOL

I have 5 addons in firefox here.although i didnt know adblock was a resource hog.
Still i dont notice any slowdowns etc.
Flash intensive sites like facebook tend to raise the ram usage a bit though.:ouch:

Flash has gotten better, but it'll probably always be a resource hog. And, yes, ABP with many lists will definitely affect performance. That's why it warns you not to go crazy with adding them. Facebook slowness probably has more to do with the amount of 3rd party scripting and trackers than anything else. I know many websites I go to that have Facebook scripts will often crawl along.
