I'm creating a .nip installer package for local install. this installer will be going on laptops that we loan out to users. these laptops will not be on our network and will not be communicating with our ESET admin server in anyway. I have the configuration for the package set to update the antivirus definitions via ESET's servers. My question is, do i need to add the .lic file under 'License Keys' within the config editor?

No, you do not need the license key file in the configuration. It is only used with the ESET Remote Administrator Server install or if you plan to use the NOD32 Antivirus client software as an update mirror.
