I actually don't even know much about the difference between OpenOffice and libre office. LOL. I changed to libre because I heard people saying it's better! :argh:

Well, essentially LibO is a fork of OpenOffice. The Document Foundation have definitely forked it if you ask me LOL.

It isn't. Take my advice & change back. :thumb:

    I'll say ...

Oh, I've had enough surprises with LibO to last at least one lifetime.

    That link looks interesting, thanks.

I thought I had posted it but anyway ...
"Berlin, May 30, 2012 – The Document Foundation announces LibreOffice 3.5.4, the fifth version of the free office suite’s 3.5 family."
And "up to 100% performance gains when opening large files (depending on operating system, hardware configuration and file contents)."
And "We still need some progress before we can tackle big features such as incremental updates."
    All over here: http://blog.documentfoundation.org/2012/05/30/the-document-foundation-announces-libreoffice-3-5-4/

Hi JR, a couple of months ago I started using Libre Office, at the time I installed portable version 2.5.5. Can you or someone else tell me whats the proper way of upgrading portables like Libre?. Should I just run the installer for the new version in order to keep settings or should I remove/delete the Libre folder that is in my computer and run the installer for the new version. Libre is the first portable that I try so I am not sure how is the best way to upgrade this kind of programs.

    Thanks in advance

    Bo

bo elam, because I don't know if you are using the PA Platform with LibreOffice, or you have a Standalone portable app, perhaps this Upgrading a Portable App section could be of help to you.

I have been using LibreOffice with no problems, still haven't found any bugs (but then I don't use many advanced features I guess). I haven't used OpenOffice much so I can't say if it's better, but LibreOffice sure seems to have more people involved and to be more actively developed.
