I keep getting alerts for strangely named programs trying to run. It says they are being launched by "c:\windows\ldepp.exe"

    examples are
    4etgva.exe
    ao9qja.exe
    chdy5a.exe
    dafckh.exe
    8kqugs.exe
    fwasfe.exe

google doesn't reveal anything for any of the mentioned programs. Does anyone have any idea what these are?

Did you recently install Grokster or anything like that? Go to MSConfig, start-up tab and see what is executing on start-up. Sounds like you have a major spyware infestation. Something similar to what the Grokster bundler will install.

I am unable to find anything about these processes. Please run MSCONFIG to see what processes are there in staart-up.
If it is indeed an infection caused by Gorkster, try InterMute's SpySubtract. It is very effective in removing infections caused by Gorkster.

    looks like I've got:

    CTHELPER
    UpdReg
cdaEngine0400 - ooh, that's from the wildtangent folder, suppose i shoudl remove it
something without out a name or command, just blank
aha - ldepp, but still no sign of what it is

I'll try the spy subtract software, thanks for the replies.
