    XP 32

    Anyone installed latest Java?

On my system a folder "Sun" is there in "C" drive. This is the first time I am seeing "Sun" folder in "C" drive. Previously with any version of Java it was not there.

Anyone can confirm that Java now creates "Sun" folder in "C" drive?

No such folder after updates here (nor should there be as the Sun has set). Did you use VirtualBox a few years ago? It could be due to that.

    Its a freshly formatted system

I haven't installed the latest Java on Win 7 64 Bits yet.

This is on XP 32, anyone with XP 32?

Inside Sun Folder there is Java Folder, inside Java there is deployment folder, inside deploy there are cache & SystemCache folders, inside these folders there is a folder name 6.0 in each, inside 6.0 there are 63 folders named 0,1,2,3......63 along with 2-3 other folders.

I just checked on an updated XP SP3 32 bit test box, updated with Java ver 7 u21 and no such folder exists. Also as I intimated above Sun no longer exists and Oracle has stopped using that name for its software. If memory serves the last Sun file was seen in 2010.

Are there any files in the folder that have a datestamp?

I have the normal Java folder in program files.

I dont know how this Sun folder appeared in C drive.

It shows date created Apr 16 2013.

On 16th I only added Comodo Dragon Portable to PortableApps folder so that it appears in PortableApps launcher. I didn't installed any other programs.

Infact I dont have any other programs installed. I formatted & reinstalled. Only XP SP3 32 fully updated, drivers & Flash & Java, no other softwares installed. Only portable apps through portable apps launcher.

    On my X64 Windows,

I always install both 32 bit and X64 Java JRE for maximum compatibility. :thumb:

USA still the best. But barely.
I believe on a fresh install of XP it's Microsoft's version of Java. And that folder might be a normal ootb experience.

Its no longer Sun Java. Today Java is owned by the Oracle Corporation. :thumb:
