i have installed KIS 7, it is lighter than ESS, but ive noticed that web browsing has slowed down by quite a bit, in total both processes run at a combined mem usage of 20k or less. ive noticed that scan speeds are very slow, it takes much much longer to complete a scan!

does anyone know a guide for optimal performance/security settings? NOD32 had one, is ther one for KIS 7?

    *EDIT*

BTW, how do u schedule system scans?

i think depending on the setting then Kaspersky will scan images etc. in the webpage before it loads, which increases the time.

yes i had all the web AV to max protect on ESS aswell, set to scan ALL web traffic and images and wat not, same with KIS, its not a huge deal, just saying i noticed a bit of a difference in speed between them

but wat really bothers me with KIS/KAV is the excruciatingly slow scan speeds!!! and how do u schedule a scan with KIS 7

I never had chkdsk issue and I never run it "on demand".
You can make an image of your system , try KIS , and saftely return to previous state if you want to.(btw , it's always good to have a clean copy;) )

KIS 7 is quite an amazing program in many ways. I can vouch that KIS uses around 8MB at idle on my XP Pro based machine.

The only other AV that I've found as light on resources is AntiVir PE Premium.

    Cheers.

yes i do like how KIS is very light, but the scan speeds are terrible, maybe in KIS 8 that will be improved

The program is lighter than ESS , I'm not sure on Avira.

Scan speed will be a big improvement due to the new engine. especially when you have a dual core. than it will be more that twice as fast

70GB/250GB HDD scan time is ~40mins.

Scan setting is max (heuristic analyzer is Detail)

i have 500gb HD, 100GB used, scan wet everything to max, took quite a while, that was the only thing i didnt like, yes this is much lighter than ESS(not sure about EAV, havent tried) ESS full scan on max took under 30 mins, somewer in the 20's, KIS 7 takes double if not more than that time than ESS did to scan same amount of space, so i cant wait for KIS 8 :D
