Scanning the internet for some malware today I came across a legitimate (questionable) free keylogger. Having downloaded and scanned it I was surprised to see only KAV give a warning. I know it's not technically a virus but I would like to be warned about it especially when AVs give you the option to check for "potentially harmful" stuff. What do you feel about this ?
Its not malware because: 1)Its legitimate 2)It only logs your every keystroke if you choose so 3)You can remove it if you want, which is not the case with malware-like keyloggers 4)It is not giving the logged keystrokes to anyone on the Internet without your consent Regards, Firecat
A keylogger not malware? Its malware if someone else put it on your machine without you knowing about it. Chances are even Kaspersky would pick this up only with the X bases. It is part of their policy and they say so somewhere on their web site. You know, those four conditions of not malware would be met by a hardware keylogger. People have picked up criminall charges for using those on the sly.
Well OK I blundered. KAV picks it up even with normal bases (It is detected by name TrojanSpy)....Dunno why others have ignored it. Tomorrow I'll be reporting this keylogger to ArcaBit/Stormbyte...So ArcaVir will also detect it soon.
