jm0307 - Please bare in mind that statements such as:

    and

are simply opinions with no substantiation. Not sure why SJ wanted to make such an issue of it, especially when trying the trial wouldn't hurt anything and could have provided further information, but it certainly seems odd, to say the least.

Still think it's a valid test because at the moment, you don't even know if the computer in question does have a keylogger on it or not. Given the degree of expertise you've indicated the computers' current owner has, you might want to make sure whether there's an actual threat to be dealt with at all before wiping the computer, changing all passwords, transferring all information (audio, video and picture files) to removable media before doing the wipe/re-install, etc. .

All that's contingent upon (1) finding out whether anyone involved actually has indicated inside knowledge on any of her computer goings-on that they couldn't have known without a keylogger being installed and (2) making absolutely sure there's not a hardware keylogger installed (because wiping/re-installing isn't going to do you any good if there's a hardware keylogger).

    Good luck! Pete

    Hi Pete

I have asked questions about programs and got recommendations from SJ also.
Example asked about a good file monitoring program. He suggested process Monitor. When asked how it is used to monitor an install, his reply was just use it and figure it out yourself.
Seems strange to offer programs to be used and not to be used and not say why.
Allthough I can kind of see where SJ is coming from. He-she may think on a higher leve of knowledge.

''Everything is detectable'' False The latest version of EBLASTER IS NOT DECTABLE. I'm a programer at IBM for the last 14 years.

    1. This thread has seriously veered off topic and is closed.

    2. One person's just "joking" can constitute a rather offensive remark to another. I strongly suggest all to weigh the content of their remarks prior to posting them on the open forums
