I'm new to this, so pardon my stupidity. My children use a computer for instant messaging (AIM 5.9). The computer was running real slow, a lot of pop ups, etc. I installed Spybot S&D and now whenever they try to start a Chat window from within AIM, a page fault error in module KERNEL32.dll appears and AIM is shutdown.
I uninstalled Spybot (after restoring all clean ups) and re-installed AIM, but the problems persists. I also removed all protection from spyblaster and the problem persists. I realize that this .dll file is associated with ActiveX, but it seems that AIM chats depend on it.

Can someone help me out of this predicament?

What OS are you running and do you have the latest Windows updates?

I would personally recommend you completely uninstalling AIM, run a good registry clean up tool like this one:
Registry Tuneup - AceLogix (free 30 day trial)

Delete any related folders in your Program Folders (AOL,AIM, etc..)

    Then try a fresh install

I use this one and bought the full version. It is very good.

Rememeber, just because you uninstall doesn't mean it's all gone :)

    Keep us posted
