Kaspersky US is hosting an "Exclusive offer for Windows 7 Launch Party Attendees & Hosts" and give away 1 year free license for KIS 2010.

I've been running this build on Windows 7 x64 for a couple of days. Seems to be working great. :thumb:

Thanks Baz_kasp - Update uneventful and seems to be working fine. Did an update and quick scan with new version. One minor thing is when updates set to manual it gives you the yellow warning sign. last version did not. Anyhow have them set to automatic for now. If this bugs me I'll set them to scheduled, and do manual in between.

I finally upgraded from 8.0.0.506 to 9 series.

I have to admit being somewhat skeptical especially after reading KL forum regarding certain automated rootkit scanning that occurs 30mins after application starts (and some users report it crippling their systems for the duration).

Build .736 seems to run okay. I did remove all other security software, just to be sure upgrade goes smoothly, and uninstalled the 2009 version saving only activation data.

The rootkit scan didn't bother me much in the first run, no high CPU usage or too high disk activity, it did however take 45 mins. All that time KIS was doing something little in the background ...

I am hoping that rootkit scan is faster when I tomorrow boot up my PC.

btw. the GUI in 2010 version is just horrible :(

You are installing on top off? Or a clean install?

In this case best to uninstall the old ver, reboot and then reinstall the newly released version.

Oh, didn't know about skins (haven't visited the club-part that much).

Let's see how they work :)

Btw. the 2nd rootkit scan took only 31 mins, 3rd and 4th rootkit scan took around 11 minutes and none were noticeable in system performance. I haven't re-introduced any other security software yet.

Is that so? Pretty serious accusation. :doubt: My key might be blacklisted soon then.

I've bought several things from them in the past couple of years and never had a problem.

Try what Baz said. Uninstall, reboot and do a clean install. It will solve it

    I have an interesting issue.

When KIS is active, it seems I can not install Firefox add-ons. I go to Mozilla page click to install, Firefox installs and asks for restart, after the restart nothing. It took while to realize why I can't install Dr. Web link checker anymore. I wouldn't have realized the cause w/o another poster in KL forum who's using KAV with same issue.

When I pause KIS protection via tray icon I can install the Firefox add-on.

I can confirm. Posted this in the bugs section of Kaspersky Beta Forum few days ago.

With so many bugs / compatibility issues they probably don't know where to start fixing ...

It's almost pathetic. We here are what some might call power users, we know these things happen. What about the regular joe? Using regular users as beta testers is not very nice.

IMHO, the 2009 is more stable than 2010. Out of blue, KIS 2010 keep crashing while enabling network. But don't care anymore, I've moved to other AV.
