    chaos16,

I hadn't seen that one. Their server is providing version 5.0.177. Where exactly did you find KAV WS version 5.5?

OK, but KIS 2006 is obviously a package focused on home use, after all KIS 2006 has a parental control component in it, which is a little different than the business optimal workstation product which is generally marketed to large and small businesses. In any event, it will be interesting to see how all this comes together and how the standalone AV packages fit in.

I have to say, though, that KIS 2006 looks good from the screen shots and commentary posted here and elsewhere thus far. I'll probably take it for a test drive sometime this weekend.

    Re: KAV 5.5

I know for a fact coz this is in all the security suites that the antivirus built in the suite hasen't got everything that the antivirus alone has.

like Kaspersky antivirus pro will have many more thing then the one in security suite amd it will have a big advantageo_O

and i don't like a hole security package from the same company.

Wat are the new features built in the antivirus in security suiteo_O?

That wat the new antivirus will have plus moreo_O

This discussion is useless... You talk about three/four different products...

KAV 6 product is in early, pre-release beta. Who knows and things can change. I'm still trying to make sense of this thread which makes no sense.

    Re: KAV 5.5

I dont find anything wrong in what chaos is saying...he just had a few doubts, and people started mentioning KAV and KIS 2006, and that made into a three product discussion.

Guys, lets not try to mention KIS 2006 and maintain our vision on the ANTIVIRUS, OK?

No hard feelings against you chaos ;)

BTW, I'll let you know KAV's reply tomorrow OK? I got an exam and I need to study for it...

    Re: KAV 5.5

I know...the best you can do is ask an administrator to change it for you...Wait a bit, I'll do that just now.

You want the title to be 'KAV 6.0' right?

http scan is on the prototype model of KAV 2006, so i assume it will be in the new Personal and Pro versions.

However, no mention of the new versions coming any time soon :(

The idea is, KAV6 will be made from the scanning engine from the suite (KIS6, the alfa version thats available now). But there is no info about features and time-scale, just like what is being said in the Kaspersky ICE-forum.

Kaspersky's marketing strategy and lack of technology strategy in regards to their AV product really worries me. I have a few months left on my 4.5 PRO license (5.0 is an abomination in my opinion) and I will switch to McAfee if Kaspersky does not have a decent upgrade path for 4.5 in place. It is downright ridiculous how they are handling their AV product (can anyone explain to me the weird differentiation between 5.0 Personal and Pro?). I share chaos16's concerns. The question is whether Kaspersky shares them?

Y'know chaos, heuristics is already there in KAV, but the current heuristic engine was first introduced in v3.5 and improved in 4.0!

KAV6 will have behaviour blocking which is a type of heuristic but it will not work unless you execute the infected file which could be risky.

Ya...they offer their engine to so many people, and the only help they get is that the companies using their engine will submit new virus samples to them.

Still no reply from them chaos!

Yes...F-Secure gives new virus samples to Kaspersky, and so does every company that uses their engine.

In the latest tests at http://www.av-comparatives.org Norton has about 98% but KAV as over 99% as always.

There's nothing better than KAV for overall detection.
