I have a key for Kaspersky 6 that has never been used. How can I get it to work with 2010.

When you Download the 2010 version, just input your 2006 key and it should work.

    Actually, it doesn't.

You have to write to Kaspersky support and they "should" issue you a new key. Note that support will not do that yet though if KAV2010 is still not officially released in your country.

Sounds like an approach similar to that of Symantec's for example would be in place. :ouch:

I have two Systweak keys that were originally for KIS 6. I have been using them for the upgrades to 2009. I have almost another year left.
When I tried to use them with 2010 they would not work, and the reply was something to the effect that it was not for that application.

I went to the KL forum, and asked why they would not work, and
Whizard replied that they would not work until 2010 was released in the US.

Hope that helps as probably a fair number of us have the same problem.

    Regards,
    Jerry

It appears that way, but I wonder since I am using 2009 if the license will upgrade. The license was originally for V6.
If it will upgrade from 2009 to 2010 I wonder if a V6 license, which will work I think for 2009 could be used for 2009 and when 2010 was on the US site if one could not upgrade with the same license?

I figure no one knows for sure at this time, but we'll see. As for me if my license that is good until May 2010 won't work with 2010 I will just stay with 2009. It has been safe thus far, and I have confidence it will still provide a high level of security until the license expires.

    PS
I sent email to KL Support posing the question as to whether the key I am using, KIS 6, will work with 2010. I am expecting the answer to be No, but we'll see. I also asked if V6 keys can be upgraded by KL Support. If I get an answer I will post it.

    Regards,
    Jerry

    Thanks, dawgg,

Well, 2009 is good enough, but I am a little disappointed that a key will not work until it expires. I guess that is a reason for the good sale prices.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Yes, if I understand the chart here in the link that mevcit provided, V9 (2010) will require at least a V7 license.
    http://support.kaspersky.com/kis2010/license?qid=208280369

The chart indicates that V6 keys will work with versions through 2009, but not 2010.

It is not entirely clear, however, if Support will provide a replacement code that will work for 2010 as Don stated in this thread.

Thanks for pointing out that thread. I hope they won't charge us with a renewal fee or something. I still have 17 days left in my trial, so hopefully we'll know the answer once they officially release kis2010 in North America.

I'm - I just wondered if he indeed bought a license for KIS2010, cause if he buys a new license for every software that he switches to it would be one BIG waste of money. :D

Some folks collect plates, dolls, guns, cars, etc. Some collect Av and enjoy working with them.:D I would be that way, but do not have the expertise to do so.
