Should point out that Newegg only sells to US residents. Great deal none the less. Picked up another KAV license from there last week. :)

Does anyone know if the "year" starts when you buy the license, or when you install?
I am using a 6 months trial of F-Secure on my laptop, and don't want to waste the next 5 months.

If it starts when you install I would buy it.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

And also NOD32 in HK sells for HK$375 (US$48.07) for 3 years update (US$16 per year)!!!

The 3 years subscription package is only available from buying boxes on the shelves in Hong Kong, but not available online from the local reseller "V2 Software". :p

One year educational license is only HK$168, which is US$21.53.

    http://www.version-2.com.hk/estore/

The online price of NOD32 is more expensive than the boxed package on the shelves from the same reseller.

The same also applies to KAV. The promotion price is only available from buying boxes on the shelves, but not available online from the KAV site.

The official site http://www.kaspersky.com/globalstore is now selling it at USD39.95, so the saving is about USD15.00

Hi pykko, I will surely take to the local store when you arrive. :D

Competition of antivirus software for the consumer sector is quite intense. BitDefender 9 Standard cost only HK$100 (US$12.82) in Hong Kong, in contrast to the US$29.95 online price from official BitDefender. It is even cheaper than the renewal price of US$22.46 (75% of US$29.95). :D

I clicked on the link you provided. It says $49.95 to download kav 6. However, you can purchase a 2 years licence for $74.95. If you chose this option it would cost $37.48 per year.

    Mr2cents,

When I click on the option "Buy Online", it brings me to the E-Store at secure.element5.com and it has the following information:

    Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 (2 years)

Buy a two-year license and save
You can buy a two-year license for only $63.92 instead of a one-year license for $39.95.

1 year license price: USD 39.95
2 year license price: USD 63.92

Yes. Buy 2 year license instead of 1 year.

No. Continue with my current order

To change your order, please click on "Yes. Buy 2 year license instead of 1 year". To continue with your original order, please click on "Continue with my original order".

    .........................................................................

    Cheers
    Smith

I am a bit sad that they discontinued the KAV Lite and KAV Personal Pro product lines. IMO those two products had greater value for money than KAV Personal. :(

Anyway, I find the current prices of KAV to be a bit steep; which is why I've stayed away from it.

Kav lite was discontinued a long time ago, Kaspersky 6.0 is the same as Kaspersky personal pro (+ more options) which was $69 (or was it $59), so you get more for less money in fact.

Both 5.0 personal + pro are still available for download and are still developed, new versions of them are in beta ATM, some still like 5.0 a lot.:)

At version-2, I'm seeing a price of 299HKD for a single license of NOD32. How many years subscription is this?

    Hi Firecat,

HK$299 is for one year only, but HK$375 (on the shelves price) for 3 years.

    http://www.best-view.net/en/software-nod32.php

Prices shown are for NOD boxes on the shelves only, not for sale online.

Online purchase can only be made from V2 but there is no 3 year license pack for sale online

Hi Smith. I clicked on the link again just now...and the prices you quoted are correct. 1 year $39.95 2 years $63.92. I didn't clear my cookies before I visited the site last night.

That's probably the reason it took me to a different page. My bad.Lol :)
