Why does KAV say that their trials are for 30 days and then they give you only a two week trial key? That is not very nice! I asked about this over in the unofficial KIAV forum, but never got a response. I don't intend to keep KAV (at least not this personal 5.0 which has no options to speak of), but I might like 4.5 or 5.0 Pro when it comes out so if I wanted to trial one of those at some point, I'd like to know how to get the 30 day trial instead of the two week one.

Mine was 30 days as well. Methinks you did something wrong.

If you tried 4.5 before, maybe that's 15 days. Use Winzip, extract the 5.- package. There will be a key file there. Delete the existing key and direct it to the extracted one.

Wow, maybe they changed the policy. Haven't looked for a bit.

Have you tried the UK site? Maybe one of the international sites has a different policy.

The confusing thing is that they say 30 day trial on their website and then they give you 15 days. If they have changed it recently then why hasn't someone updated their website to reflect the change?

the mul: thank you. I might try it but I have heard the GUI is really bad and that sort of thing bothers me a lot. I hated the old NOD32 version 1 GUI. I really like 5.0 GUI ....it's just there are almost no options and Quarantine doesn't work either. I have also heard that you really have to tweak and tweak some more to get 4.5 to not slow you down too much. 5.0 doesn't slow me down. Plus, 5.0 Personal Pro and 4.5 are getting into a too expensive price range for me. I suspect KAV is just not for me.

I haven't tried the UK site. I didn't think about that.

I did a quick check of both sites - both are at 15 days now, as you can see from the main and UK sites. Bad call on KL's part IMHO.

On configurability - see my response to you at DSLReports on at least the scenario that's been around on using a Personal Key file with the Pro package to get the configurable solution (without the Pro features - they'll be inactive). If KAV Workstation 5.0 beta is an indication, most if not all the issues regarding configurability should be moot if this is possible and KAV WS is an indication of the program format that KAV Pro will follow.

You're right. I should have downloaded and checked the key.

I guess I must have downloaded the trial just when they changed it because it said 30 day trial on the website and was really surprised to see 2weeks instead. I agree that is a bad move.

As for configurability, I just responded to your post at dslr.
