I just installed KIS6 about a week or so a go, and love it.... But I read several posts that it will slow down over time... My question is what happens?? How long does it take before I will start to notice the slowdown?? Feels like I might be sitting on a time bomb!! lol!!

the way i see it, the more u use KAV 6, it should get faster. this would be caused by the use of ichecker and iswift. also Kaspersky has an option to only scan new and changed files.

I cannot think of any reason it would slow down. I agree it might get faster.
Don't let that dissuade you from going to Kaspersky. I think it is a non-issue.

I am using it and I like it... but if it is going to degrade over time I will chunk it!! I mean if it degrades more/faster than Windows does on its own.

That should be the only thing that matters.

If you start listening to or reading every single thing about AV's, AS, AT's, firewalls, etc. you would probably spend more time installing and then uninstalling those apps.
Dont get me wrong, its good to be informed but the best decision is the one made by yourself.
FWIW, I'm also using KIS 6 and to tell you the truth this is the FIRST time I've ever heard about this.

I've been using Kasperski AV products for more than a year , but now I've switched to Antivir and my computer is responding much faster.
I never had to much problems with viruses ( KAV detecded only a few) , so I think everything will be just fine

So far Kis 6 is doing fine. I have read about some problems with it in several forums, but all the av solutions have problems reported in these forums as well.
I believe I will sit tight until these phantom problems arise and go from there!!

I think when people wrote about kav slowing down your pc as it goes along that ment in so much as: when it has new features it might use more ram and or cpu.

I've been trying out the latest KIS. Well it's definatly much much lower in resourses than any other suite i've tried, even lower than some stand alone AV's.

KIS is using only a little over 10mb , compare that to the other suites.

If you're using the default recommended settings...then it is the other way around, it will be faster after a week than in the first 24 hours. Just do a full on-demand scan as the first thing after installing.

I also read a lot of crap about the "anti-hacker" being too weak.... is this a real concern? Seems to be doing a decent job for me, but I'm just a newbie:oops:

its wouldnt say its weak its just not as good as firewalls like outpost because its an in house firewall from kaspersky but it isnt a bad firewall.

If you don't want or don't like any part of KIS 6 just don't install that feature when you download the program, it can always be modified at a later time
I do know some people that use KIS without the firewall but have the other features enabled, while I have everything enabled except for the anti spam, I guess it all comes down to users choice.

I think "it" refers to web surfing and system operations. At least it did when I had it and considerably more then what I have now.

No problem with that, wouldn't make any sense to buy the suite just to use the AV. :D

I just upgraded from KAV to KIS and got a 30% discount so actually it only cost me a few dollars more than the regular price of KAV.
I bought it for the year but if I would have bought it for 2 years then it would have been like buying 1 year and getting 1 year for free, not a bad deal.

I would say so!! And if the suite stands the test of time, I will consider a 2 year renewal...:D
