Can Kaspersky protect users if they using Opera and does it provide better protection for users who use IE?

    Yes
Opera & Kaspersky is definitely a safe combination, i use it myself, together with Maxthon (IE based). :)

Any safe browser, like Opera, Firefox or any other Gecko based browser won't protect you from downloading bad files.
So you still need KAV or NOD32 or any other AV, AS, AT, AK, ... scanner to protect you against any kind of malware.
I'm VERY carefully on the internet, but Ewido online scanner found yesterday ONE high risk malware on my computer and I use Firefox all the time for surfing and searching on the net.
No security software is perfect !!!
