What does Kaspersky get for giving their software for free?

 

^A lot of attention, word of mouth etc.

The rebate requires you to visit a Kaspersky site, enter a code, print out a form, cut out the UPC parcel code from the NewEgg package, make a copy of the purchase slip and then mail these 3 items by post before a certain date.

Lots of folks eventually won't bother/think they'll do it later and forget about it.
So Kaspersky will likely only have to reimburse a small percentage of those taking up this offer.

 

A user that is more likely to renew in a year than switch.
