    i beleive i have the 1.4 version..what is the the differenceo_O
from what i understand 1.4 i have is trial, and the 1.3 was last freewareo_O? which would get you what......updates, this is no good i like updates...are updates important with this program as it will always find useless fileso_O?

if this is the case any good freewares out there that is as safe as JV16 for picking "safe" files to delete?

as always you're all the best!!

As great as JV16 is (perhaps the best Registry cleaner I've used), version 1.3 is a bit buggy, IMO. I have not used v1.4, but I would say that bug fixes and support are probably worth the purchase price to many people. But I'm happily getting by with old v1.3 (I guess I'm pretty "frugal" ) and trying out the very good freebies Regseeker and EasyCleaner.

I use 1.3, and have found it superior to their standalone reg cleaner (RegSupreme) by the same vendor. If your looking for a good reg cleaner, I would stick with 1.3.

Regseeker is good. Just don't carried away. Very powerful. I embarrassed myself with aggressive cleaning a time or two. :D

It's beneficial only in the sense that it's FREE.

dear phatkid77, always remember onething when you're fiddling with registry. unless you know what you're doing you'll never be safe with ANY product. if you know what you're doing you can clean up a lot of junk even manually. IMHO i found RegSupreme more powerful than JV14. the new Registry Mechanic is also very good. if you're looking for freewares then you can try,

    TweakNow RegCleaner from http://www.tweaknow.com/RegCleaner.html
    HDCleaner from http://home.tiscali.de/zdata/hdcleaner_e.htm
    Crap Cleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/

the later tools have more options and i specially liked the last one because you can tweak the INI file to your taste.

its always a good idea to use the new version is it is more stable, optimized and have more options.
