Looks like you will need an overnight session.

TeraByte Support reported they had Validation problems on one of their servers some time ago. All testing of hardware was normal but replacing the RAM fixed the problem. Oh well!

How many RAM modules are present in your computer? 2 or 4?

One thing that would be quick to try is remove one module and run a Validate on the .tbi. Then swap modules and test the remaining module. If both modules are "sick" you won't be any wiser but if one module is OK you will have an answer.

Sorry,to report that trying the RAM modules, individually, has not made any difference.

I think I will just live with it, and hopefully this system will last another 12 months.

It will be 5 years old by then, so I will probably start to think about a new custom build.

Also, noticed since the RAM test earlier this morning, that the "Current Pending Sector Count" has increased from 7 to 17. I am not too worried as I have this data backed up on a my 3rd internal drive.

It's frustrating when you don't have an answer. Please let us know of further developments.

IFW will usually post events in the Application Event Log. Do you know why there are none in your screenshot in post #23? Here is an example:
    ifw_app_event_log.jpg

Does the IFW log file show anything useful? By default this is in the installation folder and named IFW.LOG.

In my experience, when the disk errors like those shown in post #23 occur it usually means there's a serious problem accessing the drive. It could be a loose cable, a bad cable, or the drive itself (more likely). If it were my drive I would consider it bad and not store anything of value on it. It's possible that since the image is large it's using an area of the drive previously not used -- an area with problems. One drive I have showed problems like this after it ran for several days straight. Otherwise, it functions normally.

Have you checked the SMART status of the drive?

Are there any bad sectors on the drive?

Do you have room on the F: drive to save a new backup image on it? If so, you could try that and see if it can get through the validation successfully. Another option would be to use a USB drive.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for that interesting info. Just did a scan of my C: drive and cannot find the IFW.LOG.

Also, there is nothing in C:\Program Files\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2.

The destination drive H: does look as if it has a problem - see screenshot, so I will try your suggestion of taking a new image and saving it to F: drive.

The drive definately appears to be having serious problems.

For the IFW.LOG file, start IFW and click the Settings button. Then type in the path you want it to use. For example, you might type in F:\IFW.LOG to save it to the F: drive. Also, when doing the operation (backup, restore, validate, etc.), make sure the Log Results to File option is selected.

As you can see, thanks to you and Paul, I have completed a successful image backup.

I was starting to get worried, as the minutes ticked by...;)

...and it finally started to update.

    Finally, success. :)

....and a copy of the log.
