When I did a full scan everything went fine until it came to the registry. At the beginning of the scan (after around 90 files) suddenly it stopped and froze.
I tried this repeatedly and it continues to stop and freeze.
Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

    You wrote:

Is it freezing or stopping in the same location in the Registry? If so, would you please do the following:

    1) Go View >> Settings, then hit the "General" tab.

    2) Under Scan Display Options, select "Display the progress bar with the progress text."

    3) Click "Save" to save your settings.

Now re-run that full scan and watch the progress text as it flashes what it's scanning. When the scan freezes, what Registry key is visible in the progress text?

    Thanks,

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/CLASS/SHELL/

    Afterwards it's written something illegible

    Thanks Eric for your help

Great, that sounds like the culprit. Could you open RegEdit.exe, locate the RegKey in question, export it to a .REG file, ZIP it up, then email it to me at:

    ehowes(at)sunbelt-software.com

We've been trying to repro this error in house without success. If we can get our hands on a Reg key causing the problem, our chances of fixing it go way up.

    Thanks,

Got the file. Unfortunately, whatever is causing the problem in your Registry did not survive the export to a .REG file, for whatever reason.

I am seeing a trend in the reports we've had on this problem. Ofthe four cases I know of, one was on German XP, another on Hungarian XP, another on Russian XP, and the fourth on Hebrew XP -- all languages with special characters.

That at least gives us a lead to pursue.

In the meanwhile, should I switch back to the old version?

Given the errors you reported, you might consider switching back. We're going to be releasing several bug-fix builds over the next few weeks. What build the fix for your problems makes it into is an open question at this point, as we're still investigating.

Eric, I went back to version 1.5 again and everything is fine again.

Will you let us know when you've made a fix for the problem so we can download the new version (either in the forum or by e-mail)?

    Thanks
