just a question abt 2 firewall

Hi there i'm currently doing a project and i'm not too sure abt tis question. What is the difference between 2 stand-alone software-base firewall and a server which has 2 software-base firewall for a SOHO network? The second firewall for each type act as a fail-over firewall. Can some guru out here enlighten mi abt tis? Thx lots

 

Do you also have a router to add to the scenario? Normally in a server/client topology, one would set up the server with a good SPI packet filter, like 8signs or CHX-I(free) and the rest of the nodes with app filter firewalls, like Zone Alarm or Kerio 2.15. If you are running two firewalls with your server, what are they? Do they do the same thing? More info is needed.
