After reading another thread decided to give jetico firewall a go.Uninstalled sygate, rebooted, shutdown Nod and winpatrol and installed jetico and restarted.Remember my answer still doesn't work properly and Nod tray icon disappeared though still running in the background.
Not impressed so will ghost back to sygate installed. Will give jetico another shot when these probs are definately ironed out as it certainly uses less resources than most.

I did similar, trying Jetico from Sygate personal. However, like you it didnt work of me and gave me plenty of hassle including not so hot results from firewall testings. Uninstalled and went to Netveda. After giving it 1 day, its rock solid, very light on the system, easy to set up and doesnt cause any system problems.

Sygate leaves behind stuff like Teefer for NT, wspdant and other stuff, make sure to take them off your hidden devices before installing any other firewall.

Dont worry, I had cleaned everything through.

I should also add that I tried LnS as well in between uninstalling Sygate and installing Netveda, but couldnt get it to leave me feeling comfortable.

LnS is nice, but has a memory leak, so you might want to steer clear until the next release..
