    SYMPTOMS
When you open a Web page, one or more pictures (graphics or images) may not be displayed. Instead, a red X, or a placeholder, may appear in place of the images.

    CAUSE
This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true:

The Web page includes an image type that is not supported by Internet Explorer.
The Show Pictures check box is not selected on the Advanced tab of the Internet Options dialog box, or the Toggle Images.exe Web accessory was used to disable images in Internet Explorer.

    HI rsextreme......

ok, first, the little red x's you are getting I can almost guarantee you 100% they are GIFS.... There is a ***KNOWN*** problem in IE6 displaying of Gifs on a page, especially say a forum.... In IE, if I go to: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/security,1

I 'sometimes' get the little 'envelope' icons down the left hand side misssing. [red x]

I suppose you have done a *complete* clean out of Cache, etc. let them all rebuild again?

Also what will work sometimes is a Ctrl F5 [this forces a rebuild of the page, not just a refresh of your cache]. This does not always work though. :(

The only thing that may in your case [as suggested by Close_Hauled] is to go to MS, look for IE6SP1 and redownload IE again, failing that, I am afraid you may have to live with it until MS fixes it, or someone else has an idea.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

The other alternative, use another browser. I am using Firefox 0.92 and never been happier, NO MORE Red x's :)

    TAS
