    Hello,

Look 'n' Stop 2.05 beta allows to translate Look 'n' Stop in any language. German and chinese translation are already available.
    http://www.looknstop.com/En/Plugins/plugin_language_use.htm

Joined to this message, you will find a italiano.lng translation files that provides ~ 90% of the translation in italian. The missing ~ 10% corresponds to the delta between 2.04 (for which a complete italian setup is available) and 2.05b1.

If you are interested in helping us translating the missing part, we would really appreciate. Here is the page that explains how to do.
    http://www.looknstop.com/En/Plugins/plugin_language_dev.htm

Searching for "translate" in italiano.lng allows to identify missing translation strings.

Do not hesitate to contact us directly by email rather than on the forum if required.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Regards,
    JF

Sounds like a someone who knows the ropes, John - LnS might not be known to the overall public as many others, but IMHO it surely outperforms fairly all of them ;)

Best of luck with the forum - and give my regards to Udo ;)

    regards.

    Italian translation complete!

here you can find the latest one:

    http://manuangi.altervista.org/sw/LnS/italiano.lng
(don't left click on the link, but right click -> save with name)

It's complete...no English terms to be translated left! :)

I haven't tested it thoroughly...when I find some mistakes, I'll correct them and upload a new file! ;)

    updating!

    I've been modifying my translation...
The biggest problem is that in most parts of LnS GUI there's just no room for the Italian terms to be fully visualized...
Can this be fixed? If I'm not mistaken on LnS site they say it'll be fixed with the coming 2.05b2...oh, yes:
So far, I've tried to reduce term lenghts where possible...

    @ JF
One more thing. As I'm continuously updating the file, of course the one you uploaded on LnS site is outdated...
May you have the link point directly to my site:
    http://manuangi.altervista.org/sw/LnS/italiano.lng
    (remember, save with right mouseclicking)
as long as the translation release doesn't get "final"?

    bye!

    Manuangi,

    Good idea.
http://www.looknstop.com/En/Plugins/plugin_language_use.htm now points to the italiano.lng file of your site.

I propose to discuss by email the GUI controls that require to be resized to match some italian translations. It's true that 2.05b2 already includes some control resizing for the chinese translation purpose, but probably not for the same controls requiring a modification for italian ;)

    Regards,
    JF

Nice! ;) Anyway you should add something about the way to save the file (mouse right click -> save object with name), as the default dowloader will just left click on the link, and be told the file doesn't exist...

That's ok! I will give you my email via pm..and also some way to contact me via icq or msn...ok? :)
So we may talk about what to fix of the GUI...
    edit PM sent! ;)

...also because there are some visualization bugs: some terms are not displayed though their lenght is correct...
the biggest one is on the last tab, "register"...my translation is not shown in the central box...

    http://manuangi.altervista.org/immagini/LnS_Trad ITA no ultimo tab.jpg

I hope I can talk with you about that soon! :)

    Hey manuangi

Just tried out your most recent version, it appears there are missing identifiers.
That’s easily proving by viewing the Look ‘n’ Stop main directory and looking at the file “translation_missing.log”.

    Here is a view of the .log;

    ----
This file provides the list of resources for which no translation is available.
Use the numbers listed in this file if you want to add translations to the language .lng file.
    with the following format:

    ______________LOOK_N_STOP_REFERENCE number1 number 2
    Text to be translated
    LOOK_N_STOP_TRANSLATION
    Your translation

Here is the list of indentifiers found as missing in your last Look 'n' Stop session

    Phantom,

Thank you for these missing IDs.
Here are the associated missing translations. They correspond to the "Application Filtering" and "Ports and IP address selection" dialog box.

    Manuangi,

The "How to register" text is not translated in 2.05b1 but will be translated in 2.05b2.

    Regards,
    JF

    missing parts...

I see, Phant0m``...the fact is that those parts are not present as well in the English file I translated...I'll check this out...

edit : I've just seen JF post...ok, I've added those lines to the end of the italiano.lng file, and will translate them at once...

as for the "how to register" part not being translated in beta1, I just thought it would be, as the lines referencing to that ARE present:

    Code:
    ______________LOOK_N_STOP_REFERENCE 10 1517 0

    Hi,

    This is normal.

Since we can't control and verify that the text will be valid for any translation that will be done, and since some malicious people (not you obvioulsy ;) ) could change the semantic of this licence text, we decided to put both languages.
The English text is the official one. If the translated text doesn't reflect the english one, it is not valid.

ok...but any chances for more room?

    ok, I understand... :)

ah, there are still some places where I'd need "more room" to correctly translate in Italian...in those cases, I really can't do my translation shorter! :doubt:

    I'll post some screenshots shortly...

    what to change..

here's the most "pressing" change I wish you did:

    http://manuangi.altervista.org/immagini/LnS_Ita2ndTab.jpg

I really can't make it shorter, as in Italian:
    Add = Aggiungi
    Edit = Modifica
(no way to translate those otherwise!)

:doubt: could you enlarge those buttons, please? there's plenty of room!

another thing, again about the "last tab" (I will post the relevant images again):
    Code:
    ______________LOOK_N_STOP_REFERENCE 10 1517 0

As you can see, in the translation above, lines in Italian are correctly separated by blank ones, just as the English ones..

But, when applying, those "spaces" are all eaten!
(you can see a red spot where a blank line should be)

    http://manuangi.altervista.org/immagini/LnS_ItaLastTabNoSpaces.jpg

I know they are "cosmetic" changes, yet I think they're important for Italian customers to be able to use my translations as they'd like to...
