I did an online audit at http://www.it-sec.de/vulchke.html as linked to by Kareldjag in here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=693632

    General information

    Welcome My IP/My IP,
with MSIE 6.0 and WIN 98.

Followed by a traceroute from 1 to 20. The first 3 were <... skipped ...> and 12 to 20 missing with a wildcard * against the numbers.

    After that, this

Are you (or your accesspoint) there?

    http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/113/locationpic3yg.jpg

    Status: Ok
    Number: 82.0.0.0 - 95.255.255.255
    Lat: 33.98°
    Lon: -118.45°
    City: Marina Del Rey
    State: California
    Country: Us

    Whois Info NetName: 88-RIPE

It then does a port scan

No problems with ZA Free blocking everything, and the general/tcp test was killed.

The strange thing is the test site is in germany = de and i'm not in the USA, so why does it show and ask if i'm located in california ?

Are you using a proxy ?
If so....which one in case it would help with your question ?

    Hi Bubba thanks for responding.

No proxy, and it was definately my IP that they showed, and i watched the port scans occuring in ZA, so that's what's puzzling me ? I can't think they could be having such constant errors with the locations, otherwise they would have been alerted to it by now by someone.

I await further insight into what is, or could be happening here !

    TIA

I confirm that it gives incorrect information. My location shows exactly like yours and it DEFINITELY is not the same (northern Italy here).

So now WSFuser as well as TNT and myself get false locations shown with the test ? How strange ! Anyway that clears up why it happens, it's something on their end. What the actual problem is though we don't know.

Well we know where were we are even if they don't lol.

After reading the previous posts, I couldn't resist, just had to see what planet they thought I was on. ;)

Actually, in my case they didn't do too bad, only about 60 miles off. And of course it's possible that, while my provider's headquartered right here in town, their main servers are physically located out of town.
