    Re: Microsoft Super Patch Tuesday (4/12/2011)

    I am having issues installing KB 2446704. Something to do with .NET Framework?

    When I try to install it, the PC freezes and emits an annoying loud beeping noise.

    Tried twice now and got the same results each time.

    I had to use the task manager to restart the PC.

    Anyone else noticing this problem?

    Using Win XP MCE 2005 with SP3

    Thanks

    Thanks Ron.

    Looks like I gotta make a phone call.

    No time tonight, probably sometime in the AM.

    Thanks again for the link.

    Hey guys,

    This morning before I called, I decided to try the install one more time.

    After a long pause, the beeping started up again and I thought that it wasn't going to finish installing, but then the beeping stopped and it eventually finished installing.

    No phone call needed. Thank goodness!

    Probably just my impatience, but last night it definitely wasn't working properly.

    Thanks

    I am having the same problem with windows update kb2446704. It updates and says its installed, in about a minute or two the little update sign pops up again wanting to install the same thing. I went to the Windows update page and tried to install it and still having the same problem. o_O

    Las desinstalo todas, una a una = I uninstall them all, one by one (.NET 2.0, 3.0, 3.5).

    Hey hogndog,

    .NET 2.0
    .NET 3.0
    .NET 3.5

    Las desinstalo todas, una a una......

    Basically this is saying that he uninstalled all NET packages related
    to NET 2.0-NET3.5 that he found in "change or remove programs",
    since they were related to update KB2446704.
    He uninstalled them one by one. After doing this, he went back to
    Windows update and NET 3.5 installed successfully.

    Simple & Stupid Always Works Best In Life:-

    Stop the notification of KB2446704

    =======

    1. Please first go to the following link:

    http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
    2. After the scanning process, please check if we receive a page with two buttons: Express and Custom

    If yes, please click Custom.

    3. Then please clear the check boxes in front of KB982524. Meanwhile, please check the check box in front of "Don't notify me about these updates again."

    4. Quit the Windows Update window.

    After that, the update KB2446704 will not prompt to install again. It won’t affect other updates. The security level and the system performance won’t be affected either.

    In addition, I would like to share some useful tips which can help us release free space and improve the speed of the system.

    Method 1: Disk Cleanup
    ====================

    1. Click "Start" -> "Run", type "CLEANMGR.EXE" and press "OK".

    2. Run disk clean up.

    Method 2: Delete the temp folder
    ====================

    Click "Start" -> "Run", copy the following command to the run line and press "OK".

    cmd /c del /f /q /s %temp%\*.*

    (Note: You will receive a command console like DOS, please wait 1~2 minutes and it will close itself after the remove process is completed.)

    I also had issues with installing the latest round of Windows Updates. I got two BSODS and it took about 2 hours to get some of these updates installed. I think my issues were with the MS office updates though.

    I had problems with the .NET Framework update too. It was on a machine that ran Quick Books (which uses/needs .NET Framework.) Based on other issues I've seen, I am convinced that Quick Books can and sometimes will corrupt .NET Framework installations.

    I finally uninstalled all .NET Framework programs, used the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx and then reinstalled everything. Updated and worked fine after that...

    Its fixed guys, by repairing that 3.5 service pack SP 1, then back to the update center, then I asked the Lord to help me, and He did.
