    Returnil System Safe 2011 home

    Virtual Mode>Tools>Virtual Disk
Is this feature unavailable now to home users?

This was available to home users when I used version 2010.

    Hi fuquen,
Did you register or is it the unreg'd free version? You should have the VD with a reg'd free version...

    Thank you!

Yes. It is registered and the expiration date is 1015.02.14

The problem is not RSS but my PC.
I have Vista & Win7 & WinXP installed on one machine.
Virtual Disk can be created in Vista & Win7 systems but can't be created in WinXP system if XP is so installed.
VD works fine in XP system if XP is singly installed.

    Thanks!

Virtual Disk unavailable to Win XP system?

Two other machines with Win XP system show the same problem.

Laptop Asus W3n with OS of Win XP Pro. sp3
    CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.70GHz
    RAM: DDR 1GB
    HDD: IDE 30GB partitioned C:20GB & D:8GB

Laptop Acer Aspire with OS of Win XP Home sp2
    CPU: AMD semprom
    RAM: DDR 1GB
    HDD: IDE 60GB partitioned C:35GB & D: 21GB

Both machines have Returnil System Safe 2011 free version installed.
Both show the Virtual Disk function dormant or unavailable

Any information in this regard, please?

    Thanks

    Hi,
The result is strange as there should be no issue with VD creation on XP as there is none in Win 7 and Vista. Can you shoot us an e-mail to support (dasH0 tech (at) returnil (dot) com with the usual logs so we can take a closer look at the issue.

Do you get the same result on either of those systems with only an XP install (sigle boot set up)?

Current RSS installed on my PCs: RSS version 3.2.12918.5857REL.14
    Current status:
License Expiration shows the registration is valid until Apr. 2015
License Type shows the registration type is trial version .

    Problem:
Virtual Disk function is unavailable in WinXP system on 3 of my PCs .

Have tried & ended up with the following:
    1.To re-register for free version.
RSS jumped back to trial version after completion of registration.
    2.To repair & re-register.
No difference. RSS returned back to trial version after completion of registration.
    3.To re-install RSS 2011.
    Did not make any difference.
    4.A.
    Downloaded RSS 2011 version 3.2.12820.5857(Sofpedia)
    4.B.
    Updated to the newest version.
    4.C.
(Tried this step on a laptop with WinXP Home sp2 but not tried on other PCs.)
Ran virtual mode. It ran on and on endlessly.
Tried to remove RSS and it refused saying the program was still running.
Could not shutdonwn and had to force shutdown after running for about 20 minutes.
Then, could not boot into Windows system. It ran on and on endlessly in the same patern as RSS did in its virtual mode.

What seems to be the problem?

    Thanks.

The entire list of results is strange, as well as the trial license period. To have any real feedback on what may have happened and why, we would need to look at the rvs3 log file specifically, but the installation log may have something useful related to the install itself.

    Another test.

Laptop Compaq Evo N1015v was used for this test.
The hard drive was entirely wiped.
WinXP Pro. sp3 and drivers were installed, nothing lese.
RSS 2011 3.2.12820.5857 was installed & updated to be 3.2.12918.5857-REL.14.
Registration for FREE version was completed, purposely chose free version in the box of Registration Type (step 1).
"Registered Free version" appeared on the lower left corner of the home page & in the box of License Status showed Type: Free & so also in the box of Details of Current Registration.
In License Status box, Expiration Date 2015/4/9 & so also in the box of Details of Current Registration.
But, in product registration, in the box of Registration Type (step 1), the chosen version was returned back to Trial version (Recommended).

VD was then created & tested & found everything normal.

But, there are some strange & abnormal characters.
    1. Chose the free version to be registered but it chaged to trial version automatically.
    2. If the registered RSS was trial version, why expiration date was set to 2015/4/9 ?
    3. If the registered RSS was "Trial" version, why showed "Free" at other locations?
    4. Is this RSS installed on this PC a Free version or a Trial version?
    5. Is this registration made on this PC valid for 30 days or 2 years?

    Appendix
In Taipei municipal Library, I am a volunteer worker for 8 years assisting some deprived folks to use computers, the basics, so that they might gradually improve their life quality.
Taking the advantage of Wink 2.0, I make tutorials every day for basic PC and/or application operations providing about 900 folks as their learning tools via cloud drives.
Did this on RVS 2010 and now on RSS 2011 and encounter this VD problem.
Have to have correct answers to the questions or shall not deliver the tutorials otherwise.
I put myself in their shoes whenever I make tutorials for the folks.
This is why I do the tests and raise the questions.
Hope you Gentlemen at RSS understand and tolerate me a little bit.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi,

What is displayed in the main screen of the GUI?

    1. Upper right corner under the [-][+]?
    2. Lower left corner before the "Register" or "Details" link
    3. In the License Registration window, what are the details in the "Details of current registration" section? You can leave out the "Owner" as that is not germain to this question or issue.

I ask this because the areas of the GUI asked about in #'s1 & 2 are the important sections of the GUI as the License Registration screen will simply reset itself to show default selections in Step 1 without meaning for the current product registration. The screen simply resets itself in steps 1 and 2 in preperation for any additional registration requests. In this, the Details section at the top is the only section here of importance as to the current product registration for reference when needed.

    1. See questions and explainations above
    2. I suspect that the client is not registered as a trial, but as the free version with the step 1 section reset as described above.
    3. Because the client IS properly registered as a free version...
    4. From your descriptions, I believe it IS a registered free version client
    5. A registration for the free version is for 2 years with the license itself assiged by the server automatically. If the client WERE registered as a trial, this would be shown in the GUI in the places asked about on the main screen above.
