I was looking for disk partitioning program that would work with Win Vista since Symantec's PartiionMagic is useless and ran across Acronis Disk Director. I saw the price as $49.95. Just for the heck of it I did a web search for the lowest price of a downloadable version of the same program and to my surprise I got a number of hits that sell an OEM version for $15.00. Is this right? Is it bogus? Will Acronis honor support requests for this program?

    Any input will be appreciated.

I would question any OEM versions, especially at that price. There are places out there that sell Acronis software and use the same serial numbers, etc. that cause problems when you try to register (in other words, it's not legit).

If you're in doubt about a specific source, I would contact Acronis via Chat, email or phone and check with them. If you spend the $15 and then have to buy the "real" product from some other place, you didn't save anything. Acronis also has a link to locate resellers.

Newegg.com has DD for $34.99 (plus S&H). This is the Retail version.

User Group Store (which is an athorized reseller), has DD for $29 for the download version.
