    For manual scanning, nothing beats VirusTotal. As for something automatic... I think browser built-in filtering along with uBlock Origin lists are more than enough. You could add BitDefender TrafficLight as well.

    I just tried BitDefender TrafficLight on FF41.0.1 and was not impressed. For some reason there were no icons on the first page of search results until you checked the second page, then went back to Page 1. Refreshing Page 1 didn't help.

    Is anyone here using BitDefender TrafficLight in Firefox?

    Never used Web of Trust because it always seemed like Yelp to me, you know, reliance on "honest," true-blue customer ratings, yeah right. It seems the original suspicions and prophecy were fulfilled. Very nice!

    WOT = Web Of idioTs

    Anyone who didn't figure out this was WOrThless from day one isn't capable of figuring out much at all. :(

    Its demise, long overdue. Good riddance.

    I think I'll miss it on Windows psychologically, but I have plenty of browser hardening including uBlock Origin.

    Flagfox can still access WOT's scorecard though, which may be of use.

    I'd been using Trustwave Secure Browsing (formerly M86, SB2) for a long time.

    It stopped working in FF47 but it's OK in Chrome and IE.

    An Oct 18 post in the Reviews indicates Trustwave is working on a new version.

    I wouldn't go that far, but I've never used WOT, SiteAdvisor, or any other alternative. The problem is that they rely too much on speculation, and misinformation rather than actual facts. I've been banned from posting at SiteAdvisor a few times because I was correcting the misinformation posted by others.

    I totally agree. It was a joke since day one, how you can trust (no pun intended) people when they are rating things they don't even understand ...

    Nearly a decade ago it quickly became common knowledge with professionals involved in enterprise security that WOT was a model of narcissism, its "meritocracy" anarchy and its "Trusted Sources" a scam.

    By 2009, everyone in those circles knew it as the cesspool it always was. It's claim "WOT reputations are calculated based on a sophisticated algorithm that effectively detects manipulation" was universally recognized as a bold-faced lie.

    Take for example the WOT cesspool surfer MassimilianoF who, like 100's of other Gold or Platinum members ("experienced and dedicated volunteers") granted free reign of a zero-accountability IP blacklist charged "mass rating tool," ostracized multitudes of legitimate, innocent sites.

    These same members were as well moderators in the forum who maliciously crushed with prejudice any challenges to their self-righteous mission.

    A near universal case in point: for years, one of MassimilianoF's untold mass rating victims was a local financial services provider associated with one of the largest and oldest telecommunications equipment manufacturers on the planet. (A professional acquaintance who became a good friend was an IT admin at that business.) At the time, all 23 of the scan services in URLVoid listed their Web site as clean. So what said WOT. With a half century of esteemed reputation and tens of thousands of satisfied customers, the business couldn't have cared less about the Web Of idioTs.

    Of course, boogerbob545 and pianocatX1000 think of it as the bestest intuhweb thing that ever be. I heard durtygurl7834 is hard at work trying to get WOT back into addons.mozilla. There is hope! :D
