    Hello everyone!

I use Norton Firewall, then disable the Windows Firewall only that the Windows Firewall service is still running and booting automatically, I wonder if I can disable this service without diminishing safety.

Below is a picture to be better explained:

Thank you all, and sorry for my English! :thumb:

This is odd. Most 3rd party FW's disable Win FW when installed. Your situation worries me.

Is Norton FW really active? Check asap

If it is, ensure the service for Norton is on automatic on reboot

    Turn Win FW to manual.

Ask Norton what is going on with this!

I don't think Norton relies on the Win Firewall in any way, so you're probably ok disabling any Win Firewall service as long as Norton Firewall is doing it's job and covering you.

    Thanks! :thumb:

Is rather active, working perfectly, so you think it's safe to put in the service manual for Windows Firewall?

As Kerodo says, if Norton fw works, you can disable completely WF. I d' disabled it from many years, since I use third part firewalls, without security or stability problems.

You can test your Norton fw here: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 and http://www.pcflank.com/...

Yes, not only safe but mandatory. 2 active FW's is as bad as 2 active AV's.

It may be worth reading this, particularly the part under Caution.

Thank you all, I put the service manual in the Windows Firewall and Norton after I blocked well by some applications to connect to the Internet, the test gave the GRC as "Failed" and the other Norton DNS prevented me from entering the site, probably a false positive.

I will leave the post due to active Stackz, by the way because other services depend on the Firewall service.

    Thanks everyone! :thumb:

Sorry, but in Win 7FW NO other services depend on it.

However, Win7 FW does depend on other services.
