Let's say my hard drive is divided into 8kb clusters. I have a 6kb file resides in a cluster. So, inside the cluster I have 6kb file and 2kb slack left over. Let's say the slack contains my Social Security Number. If I copy the file to another drive, will the file slack that contains SSN be copied over too? Assume both hard drives have the same cluster size.

Rubberducky, there is one case in which the original file slack should be intact on the destination drive: if the copy operation is done using an image backup application (e.g., ShadowProtect Desktop). In this situation, entire clusters are backed-up and restored.
