investigation software recommendations?

I am adding a forum to my site where some of the topics will be investigation software. I have used some but would like other people's opinions as to what is good as well. The types of software I'm looking for would be digital photograph (EXIF software, software to see if the photo has been edited, any software for determining info about a digital photograph); email tracing and other email attributes that can identify the sender or place where the email came from; text messages (any software that can give info about where a text message originated from); data recovery from cell phones, smart phone apps that help in investigations, finding people on the internet, also any other topic suggestions and software would be helpul.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
