Can someone please tell me if the gateway services UTM vendors sell are really worth the extra cost for a home office set up? I have the typical LAN and WLAN but I also run a Windows Server box with a web server and an email server.

I would like to know if the firewall device (e.g.,SonicWALL, Watchguard), by itself, will provide enough security.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    I usually avoid them.
It really depends on how the service is provided.
If they allow you to modify/administrate everything in the service go for it. But most providers have general settings and they do not allow home users to interact with what traffic to allow or not (the main reason is because the service is centralized and home users do not have static IPs, which makes it difficult to provide custom settings for each user).
