I thought that they said that the V1 license would NOT work but that those of us here will get a new license. Not sure if we need to send Waj a PM, or how it will be done, but I believe we will know soon!

I was under the impression that initially all V1 license holders would get a V2 license but then, after then merger I seem to remember that being rescinded and Waj suggested that V2 licenses would be new but that V1 licensees would have a discount when moving to V2...but that was all quite a while back and so may now be different. I suggest that we wait for Waj & the Team to advise as to how they are going forward in this area. Speculation is futile.

I agree that we should wait but thought the offer was made after Waj started posting.

You may well be right...I am unclear where we stand on this given the time since this was last raised...hence why it is best to wait until Waj advises. ;)

Twl845, sure... the question fits in, but I'm not a corporate "ofishul" any longer (lost my "Virtual VP of Marketing" job when Isso went into the graphics business) so here goes...

From all the testing I've been doing on the side, and the contact I've had with the Devs... here's what I know.

The licensing system for v2 is not the same as v1 so NO v1 license will operate with v2. The v1 release must be completely unINSTALLed, via the AXTM official unINSTALLer, followed by a new installation of v2. Before you begin the v1 unINSTALL, I would use the RECOVERY MEDIA CREATION section of v1 and unINSTALL any LOCAL MEDIA installation of the RECOVERY ENVIRONMENT... the v1 unINSTALL will not do this for you.

This process obliterates the current TRACKING FILE so the first snapshot of v2, following the INSTALL, will be a baseline snapshot. If your current snapshot set is important to you, I would first MERGE any snaps that have no time point relevancy (just to limit the references involved), thenI would RENAME the current snapshot folder to indicate what it actually is (i.e., "Last v1 SnapSet").

During the INSTALL of v2, you will specify a new snap folder (The DEFAULT is currently "My Backup" <jeeeesh...>) where the new BASELINE will reside. The old v1 snaps and the new v2 snaps will all be available to v2's BROWSER should you need access to them... just use the new OPEN function in v2's BROWSER to access your named last v1 snap folder.

As you know, previous ALPHA and v1 BETA testers were offered a discount for the release license... I expect that to continue forward. And, yes, there was talk about a discounted v2 upgrade for current v1 license holders (discount should be larger than that offered to BETA testers) as well as no upgrade cost for current v1 licensees. The latter was discussed in the IssoDays mainly due to the fact that v1 never completely delivered the "working" feature set documented and discussed prior to the v1 release (the HOT restore was the main feature that was not delivered RELIABLY as specified, as well as many others).

The purpose of this post is NOT to start a discussion on what we think we're due as either v1 licensees or testers... it's just a historical rehash of things mentioned in the past. The new ownership, Bluebird IT PTY LTD, I'm sure will announce their intentions shortly on these current licensing/testing issues. At that time, always feel free to voice your views on those very same issues. I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time if it turns out the new tester/v1 licensee program is not as I expect... and you all know me, I'm an ex-Virtual VP of Marketing who, clearly, is not a man of few words when I feel I need to speak

    Hi all!

AX64 Time Machine v2.0 has been released.

Please follow the release announcement here for the official release news post.

We have a flat 50% discount coupon going on for all products until 15 September. The details of this, along with how existing license holders will rewarded is explained in the news post.

Along with v2.0 comes an overhauled website. It includes a live chat feature. We will be having a number of team members on there as much as possible from now on. Please feel free to talk to us in real time regarding any support issues you may have.

Lastly, to all the Wilder beta testers, supporters and users out there - here is an additional coupon that you guys can use in conjunction with the 50% off above.

    Code: wilders15

It'll give you an additional 15% off for a total of 65% off.;)

It has been a topsy turvy ride, but thanks everyone for supporting this small crew all this time. We hope to continue to deliver a better product for you guys as AX64 continues to grow into the future.

    Best regards,

    Wajamus

Am I missing something or are existing licence holders effectively not getting any discount over and above what new buyers get (assuming they upgrade before September 15th), and if they upgrade AFTER September 15th they get a worse deal than new buyers that bought before that date?

    Hi Taotoo!

Sorry, was a typo. It is a continued 50% discount even after September 15 for existing license holders. Also to note, for all the fantastic Wilders beta testers and supporters here - we've got a special coupon for you guys: wilders15

You can use it in conjunction with the 50% off coupon for a total discount of 65% off.

    Cheers,

    Wajamus

    Hello,

On a side note: if you have been beta testing version 2 and upgrade to the release version, there is no trial period. TM prompts you your trial has ended and ceases to function, waiting for your new license to be entered. You must purchase a new license in order for TM to work. I have removed it for now but thought others may want to know this before they install the release version.

Thanks for the clarification - while I've got you here, two things:

    1. Is there any fix for the 'cannot enumerate images' issue that can result in multiple snapshots becoming unmergable (I sent an email a week or two ago about this)?

    2. If it's the case that having a large amount of snapshots results in warm/hot restores taking a very long time (some multiple of cold restore time), then would it be possible to offer the user control over snapshot merge strategy (e.g. 1hr, 3hrs, 24hrs, 1w, 1m, 1y)?

    Thanks!

Indeed we are a poor group of developers. Thanks for being the first purchaser of v2!

    Hi Taotoo,

There's something wrong with our support mail. At times, folks simply aren't getting our replies. Pete and a number of users have confirmed this. We are talking to our exchange host see what is up.

Please test again with the latest version. We have overhauled the merging, but if issues come up do send through your logs!

Merging schedule is as it is at the moment. If you'd like to have something like this implemented do suggest it on Our feedback and support page in the site!

    Thanks :)

    Hello,

Please do not get me wrong from my last post as I am satisfied with TM and do plan to purchase in a few weeks. I just made a mistake in assuming that I would be installing a trial (as most vendors give trials for new major releases) and did not realize that since I had been beta testing that this would be my trial. My problem is that I am disabled and on a fixed income so any purchases must be planned in advance. I would not have installed TM now but would have waited two weeks until I was able to purchase if I had known this in advance. So for the time being I have removed TM until I have the funds available in two weeks to purchase. I had just thought I would post this in case others may allso not be in the position to purchase now.

    Hi Mano!

Thanks for raising this. Sorry that it didn't turn out to be free.

At that time that was the teams' thinking. But the team is pretty poor too, and after almost a year of development for version 2, we really could not afford to set a precedent of giving lots of stuff away for free. 'Cause we really can't continue to develop the software if we did that!

It's my fault for speaking too freely in that post, but the team feels a 50% discount is already very awesome, let
    alone a 65% discount.

    Thanks for your understanding manolito

Completely agree Waj, 65% off is a very generous discount...and I for one am purchasing and am well satisfied. Developers have got to eat too.

    Regards

I just sent a message to support but thought others might find this helpful. I tried installing the boot manager in the new official release and was given a message that I needed to insert the Windows installation CD to continue--which I don't have. To cancel it just hangs. This was not needed during ver2 Beta and worked perfectly, but is now a problem with the official paid release. Maybe a oddity.
