Wow, great job xtinction! Too bad you didn't post this the other day when I first installed it :)

OT: Having gone through Blackspear's setting recommendations, I knew who you were referring to in the post, but the title can be a little confusing to those who may not know what "BS" stands for here :D .

Installing NOD32 with BS Extra settings - in no time

I am unable to use the batch file to set the extra settings. When I double click on the Install Bat, I get a pop up window saying:

Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components.

Nowhere in the instructions is there mention of this. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Go to this key in the registry: Hkey_Local_machine/Software/Eset: and export this map to a safe location.
When re-installing Nod32, just double-click on the exported reg. settings and everything is configured as of the moment when you exported the Eset map.
Remember this: When an upgrade has taken place, you should export the Eset map again, otherwise the old version etc. is showing again.

I have been using this for a long time already and it works just great.

Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components.

I get the same response after double clicking the Install Bat.

The couple times I've reinstalled NOD32, I simply imported a REG file I'd saved before removing it. The REG file contains the entire key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Eset, and deletes the key as the first part of the import (that statement does make sense, if you know how REG files work). I import the REG file after NOD32 setup completes, but before rebooting. And it has worked fine every time.

    But, you know, whatever.

the link for the settings file is down...

but maybe creating a batch file to install nod32 and after that patching the registry with the .reg file sounds possible or i am wrong?

    greets phk

Re: Installing NOD32 with BS Extra settings - in no time

    Two solutions for this one...

1.This is sometimes caused by an registry entry in:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Paths/setup.exe that ends up initiating setup.exe in Windows\System32. The setup.exe there displays that message. Delete that registry entry. If only everyone stopped calling their programs setup!

    and

    2. This happens if there is a file named Autorun.inf in the drive's root directory. Right-click the drive and choose "open", look for this file Autorun.inf and delete it. Restart Windows.

If the Autorun.inf line reads the following, the first error message is displayed:

    [autorun]
    open=Setup.exe

    C:\Windows\System32\Setup.exe is launched actually

    Hope this helps

I've reviewed the thread, but am still confused on one point. Is it possible to create a customized version of config.xml once all paramters have been set as desired? If so, it should be possible to use the procedure given to install to a customized configuration of nod32.

    Hi,

"config.xml" is indeed a customized version of the default setup.xml. And YES you can edited it and use your own settings.

Unless I'm missing something, the config.xml configures 'My Profile' whereas the Blackspear's instructions configure 'Control Center Profile'. Why the difference? Does it matter? I assume that when setting up a schedule for on-demand scan it would then be important to use 'My Profile', correct?
