I assume you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 ?

If so, right-click on the installer and select install as administrator.

i am not a tech head and will need to be walked through any processes.
i have used trial version in the past and had no issue with installing. Just started install and forget it.

Do you have other current anti-virus installed ? If yes, what is it ?
List whatever other third-party security related software you may have installed. Are you running as the admininstator of the PC or are you on a limited account ?

You cannot install NOD32 in safe mode.
I suggest you submit an Issue Ticket to ESET.

Instructions as to how to completely uninstall Avira
