Install/Un-Install Problems/DCOMCNFG/Open port Problems

I sometimes use Dreamweaver to do little bits on my websites. I wanted to install Macromedia Exchange but it came up with "A installation support file could not be installed Access is Denied " After some research it comes down to the settings in "DCOMCNFG" on the default properties you have to enable "distributed COM on this computor" Doing this also opens up port 135. Obviously I dont want any open ports. If I do enable it I can't then connect to FTP to my servers. I've run out of ideas..Anyone?
