In need of some Security/Cryptography advice!

This is going to sound strange, but please hear me out. I am creating a business (including the server system) that has very specific security and data needs, and am having trouble finding much information at all outside of forums. My question is on cryptography and security: I do not want to be vulnerable to people outside of my system altering or accessing the data on my system, in addition to encrypting everything from database to end-user application. I am wary of pre-packaged security solutions in systems since the Snowden revelations, but do I have a choice? How difficult would it be to actually hire someone to craft the secure solutions I require? Thank you in advance for any assistance and information!

 

I recommend that you use existing solutions. Cryptography is hard to program correctly.
