hmm, sounds kinda cool, but isnt is pretty redundant? i mean, doesnt everyone already contribute to the cloud so wouldnt the people u add as a "friend" to your own community already be transmitting the same threat information that they would already have in the cloud to protect u...

maybe im just not understanding it right but it seems completely redundant to me, maybe someone can clarify o_O

I am no expert, so if what i am about to mention here is wrong then i am certain some one more knowledgeable then me will correct me.

But the way i see it is like this. I think that certain virus/malware are more common in certain countries then in others. so i guess that when a certain virus/malware common to Europe attacks my computer and it is reported to Immunet, it means that from that moment(Or shortly after wards.) those people that i have in my community will be protected from that virus/malware when they encounter that same virus/malware one way or the other.

Do not forget that Immunet Protect is a companion software. Meant to work together with your AV/Internet security software. As such the so called cloud version of Immunet protect might work some what different then cloud versions of other security software.

If my thoughts on this are wrong then i will see the correctional posts soon enough. :D

but isnt that how the cloud is supposed to function anyways, one person gets an infection here so the rest of the people in the "cloud" would also get protection from that threat, i dont see how its any different than how the cloud is supposed to work in the first place.o_O

I certainly see your point. Ones a threat on my PC is detected and reported, the cloud database from immunet protect should protect any one using the program. But all i can guess is that those i have in my community list, will be protected right away while those not in my community list will have to wait till the moment that the developers from Immunet Protect have updated the cloud database?

Actually, For the time being, it doesn't change your protection. It's a convenient way to share with others.

But you all know my mail: pedersen@immunet.com
Feel free to add or send a mail by, always happy to answer ;)

Ok i have to ask. Are the threats stopped in the community shared after a while? Because i just aded ELWIS1 and after that the treats stopped that i could see in the GUI went from 134 to 3.264. This as a result changed my Protection Factor from 1.747 to 45.696?

Not that i mind but...what the heck,l what just happened here.
