Almost zero removal, and only 40% detected and blocked on their test samples, no rootkit detections and unable to detect modified samples.

    sorry, but fair is overrated.

    1/10

    Completely useless

It never detected anything when I used it but I though they improved and added clamwin or something,

I guess I won't be changing my mind soon about this product.....

Gent's it's obviously not the review anyone hopes for but it's also not done in the context it should have been done in either.

Immunet Protect Free is 'Companion AV', we're quite up front about that. To quote the front page of our website: "Immunet Protect gives you a fast, extra layer of protection that won't slow down your PC. Compatible with existing antivirus." It was reviewed as a full blown AV product, which it's not. Obviously in this context it's not going to 'show well'.

I'd like to thank everyone from Wilders that helped out by finding and helping squash bugs in the 2.0 version. You guys are truly a fantastic crowd.

Hmm, I think you need to re-read the article. We detected 70% of the 0 day he tested with but failed to block (that's the 40%) all the samples we detected. As for Clamwin, I'd be a little surprised if they detect anything more than we do given that we share detections...

Well they tested the free version (without AV), probably if you make the same test to superantispyware, mbam, they will not get as good results as a normal AV

I would love to test the pro version too. Hopefully the tetra offline scanning will help things. I'm sure if they had done a side by side with the pro, it might have scored higher.

    Hi Al,

I just want to tell you the quick review which i have done on my test machine. Test was not done with huge database, but with couple of Fake AV's. It only detected 17/41 ...All these samples were collected from the period of 1st June - 17 June 2010..Even i have tested couple of rootkits and it failed to block many of them...

So IMO its really lagging behind. Not to be mention i have tested it with seven days key...

I won't even look at the "test".

Cloud based AV's are not mean to be super malware cleaners what so ever.
Their true protection is real time protection as far as I understand.

+, Immunet's community is comparatively small compared to other (Prevx/Panda) cloud solutions. When user base rises, protection will strenghten too.

To sum up: Give it time. Were Prevx/Panda good at start?

I would take that review with a grain of salt. They compared Returnil VS to Emsisoft Antimalware. They are two totally different products on the opposite end of the security spectrum.

Detected 70% but still allowing 30% into the machine,

If the theat isn't blocked it doesn't count, so 40%

I think you guys are truly clutching at straws here.

As Al has mentioned, the free version is not really suited for standalone at this point in time. I think the framework of a nice, lightweight application has been created, and it should improve in time.

The real question is, has Trjam changed his icon yet after seeing the review?

Everyone needs to be patient. I'm sure detection will improve as community grows.

Exactly. Not to mention its to compliment existing AV's.

During beta testing I submitted missed samples from an 8m large collection I have.

I don't think there is an offline installer as of yet.

Immunet is like the other cloud av's. To echo what others have said, its all about time and size. Panda's cloud wasn't nearly as good as it is now. Of course panda has a certain unfair advantage being a well known mainstream AV company. Given some time and exposure Immunet will improve its detection and database.

Returnil Lux advertises that it has a full-on antivirus component known as Virus Guard. It posts those claims on its website HERE. If RVS wants to claim antivirus protection, then they must expect their product will be compared to competing programs that make similar claims.

Here are screenshots of portions of Virus Guard...

I know what it has. The fact of the matter is its a virtualization software not an AV and shouldnt be compared as such.
