I responded to an email earlier to you (about an hour ago). I likely will not be responding to anything really detailed as I am tight on time right now. Please be sure to mail me at alfred@immunet.com and not Wilders.

    Cheers,
    al

I am waiting eagerly for this pre-release testing to start! I'm very keen to burn, boil and fry it until it's bug free. ;)

That's great because I suspect there will be a fair amount of boiling and frying to be done.

As I am a part of the pre-release-testing team, I wonder, how does Immunet decide whether a file is 'malicious' or not? It seems to me it misses out on a lot of the samples I test (I test with current Immunet version and not 2.0, obviously). It'll be interesting to observe how much better 2.0 has gotten as I burn n boil it for glitches.

That would be some good info to know.

When v2 is released Ive got about 6,500 samples to test it against. What ever isnt detected will be submitted. Its about 220+Mbs of malware. Ive already made my submissions to MBAM for its misses and Sunbelt VIPRE for its misses. And Im in the process of collecting more to get a more representative sample size.

Does IP allow scanning of specific folders? I dont have it installed, but the Clam AV Immunet version didnt have a right click/scan this folder type of option.

I am also collecting samples for Immunet 2.0 to test (about 2400 right now). It'll get interesting. I was told that the pre-release testing will commence this weekend. Hopefully it's not delayed so I can start burning the release for bugs tonight already. :)

So I have two questions before we start testing the pre-release:

    1) Will Immunet 2.0 benefit from having a traditional AV installed on computer at the same time and use this AV to add protection to 'the cloud' (sort of like the behavior of a parasite).
    2) Will Immunet 2.0 be compatible with other cloud AVs?

I am sooo looking forward to alpha/beta/pre-test Immunet 2.0!

I have around 2000+ malwares...of March and April 2010 for testing purpose.

The FREE version can work with any AV but some of them are officially supported. However I have tried Immunet with a lot of AV's and I have never had any problem.
The PRO version have its own AV so is not compatible with other AV's

    1) Yes, it will be compatible with most of the traditional AVs just like PrevX is.

    2) Why do you want to use two clouds together? I am talking about dedicated cloud AVs like PrevX, Hitman Pro, PCAV.....

EDIT: Oops.....already posted by guest was 4 Min late

    1) You're misunderstanding. I am asking if Immunet 2.0 will BENEFIT from having an ordinary AV installed which it'll parasite on in order to get more protection to the cloud. Anyone know the answer to this?

I have noticed A LOT of malicious files are not reported to 'the cloud' with the current version of Immunet. They are left alone and potentially being able to infect me at any time. I think the heuristic mechanism behind reporting malicious files to 'the cloud' must be improved in version 2.0.

I would say yes. But for more definitive answer to that and your other query ask in their forum

    A tidbit,;)

"We will have 4 engines. Three engines will be cloud based, they are light and fast. You need to keep in mind though that cloud engines are constrained (occasionally) by things like network congestion and other things that might burden a packet’s return time. Loss of connectivity will also cause Cloud Engines to have limited value. Our Pro version will have the fourth engine that is a ‘Traditional’ non-cloud engine. This engine, TETRA, will use defs and work in tandem with our Cloud Engines to intelligently review files with a very high degree of efficency."

Does IP allow the direct scanning of a specific folder or is the flash scan the only scan?

    1) The "three cloud engines", are they your own developed or are the leased from other vendors?

    2) I think TETRA should be very aggressive when it comes to heuristics, so that ALL potentially suspicious files are uploaded to the cloud.
